Is Secretary's Day Passe?

PLANO, Texas, April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- In most corporate settings long gone are the days of dictation taking, coffee fetching, and attendance to the clerical needs of management. Executives fire off their own e-mail, dare not ask for coffee and have, in many cases, replaced the personal secretary for the personal computer.

While retailers struggle with terminology and waver between Secretary's Day and Administrative Assistant's Day, with 190 shoppes that specialize in artfully presented cookie gifts, Cookies by Design(R) has decided to shift their focus and encourage the recognition of the entire staff. Is this a new trend? Hard to say, but why draw the line on gratitude.

Today's administrative assistant is likely to wear many hats and to carry a title befitting that multi-task. The contemporary admin person is likely an entry-level specialist who has been assigned the duty of routine tasks while being groomed to assume more and more responsibility and authority.

This year Cookies by Design(R) has decided to offer its biggest incentives to employers who think big. National promotions will focus on the entire staff, while many individual shoppes have created local incentives aimed at recognizing the efforts of entire organizations. While most of the products offered still are aimed at traditionally recognized staff members during the week of April 20-26, the customization and personalization that are the hallmark of these hand-decorated treats can be modified to reflect any sentiment, celebration or recognition.
