The transaction becomes retroactively by 1. January 2008. The engineering company predominantly serving international clients gained excellent reputation with developments in the high tech area. Robotic systems for the automobile industry as well as important components for the air- and space industry are just some applications amongst many others. Spirig Engineering consisting of 12 engineers and technicians is prominent in developing and producing high tech machines based on vacuum technology. Some industry examples would be the coating of screens and trend setting solar cells. These projects have gotten much international attention in the last 10 years. Permafood AG gains with this transaction important strategic know-how in the field of advanced vacuum technology. The company strengthens thereby its worldwide market position in the production of vacuum cooling systems. This leading edge industrial technology does provide for energy-saving, efficient and careful cooling of food. Baking products for instance can be cooled down to ambient temperature in just three minutes after baking. This procedure allows a much longer shelf life for baking goods on a purely physical basis. Moreover, the resulting products are much healthier since the use of chemical additives can be reduced drastically or even eliminated.
